POTABLE WATER:
Effective January 1, 2025, the VDOE will begin determining compliance with ? 22.1-289.057 of the Code of Virginia, which is legislation passed by the General Assembly in 2020. The law requires all licensed child day programs, religious exempt child day centers that serve preschool age children, and certified preschools to test potable drinking water. The law requires that programs submit their plans and test results to the Virginia Department of Health Office of Drinking Water (VDH ODW) and the Superintendent. If the results of the testing indicate elevated lead levels, the program shall remediate, retest, and resubmit results to VDH ODW and the Superintendent. There is an additional alternative bottled water option that comes with additional requirements. Comments:
An unannounced, on-site subsidy monitoring inspection was initiated and completed on 7/24/2024. The on-site inspection began at 9:55 am and ended at 11:50 am. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 26 children present and 6 staff. The inspector reviewed 5 children?s records and 3 staff records on site. This inspection included document review, interviews, and observations.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Please complete the plan of correction (POC) and date to be corrected sections for each violation cited on the violation notice. Specify how the deficient practice will be or has been corrected. Submit your POC within five (5) business days from today, which will be the close of business on 8/1/2024. A POC submitted after this date will not appear on the public website.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-80-A
Description: (Repeat Violation) For each group of children, the center shall maintain a written record of daily attendance that documents the arrival and departure of each child in care as it occurs. At approximately 10:15 a.m. on 7/24/2024, there were 14 children present in the school age group, but there were 15 marked present on the attendance record and in the 2 1/2-3 year old room there were 7 children present but there were 8 marked present on the attendance record.

Plan of Correction: Monitor daily accurate attendance sheet. Re-communicate standards in this regard.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-560-J
Description: Tables and high chair trays shall be sanitized before and after each use for feeding. The 3 high chair trays in the 14 month-2 year old room had not been cleaned or sanitized after they had been used. There was dirt and a sticky residue on all 3.

Plan of Correction: Monitor aide in this class & re-communicate the standards re: sanitation.
