Technical Assistance:
Effective January 1, 2025, the VDOE will begin determining compliance with ? 22.1-289.057 of the Code of Virginia, which is legislation passed by the General Assembly in 2020. The law requires all licensed child day programs, religious exempt child day centers that serve preschool age children, and certified preschools to test potable drinking water. The law requires that programs submit their plans and test results to the Virginia Department of Health Office of Drinking Water (VDH ODW) and the Superintendent. If the results of the testing indicate elevated lead levels, the program shall remediate, retest, and resubmit results to VDH ODW and the Superintendent. There is an additional alternative bottled water option that comes with additional requirements. Comments:
An unannounced, on-site monitoring inspection was initiated on 9/4/2024 and concluded on the same day., as a part of licensure period. The on-site inspection began at 13:15 and ended at 14:10. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There was 1 child present with 1 caregiver; the point total was 2. The inspector reviewed 3 children?s records and 1 staff records . This inspection included

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-800-A
Description: Based on the review of the providers paperwork and interview with the provider, there is no emergency plan available.
Evidence: according to the provider she does not have a full emergency preparedness plan, just the one page plan for parents.

Plan of Correction: I will make sure I fill out the emergency plan.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-900-B
Description: Based on observation during the inspection, the provider faile dto keep a child from drinking while laying down.
Evidence: The provider was observed putting a child down for nap on a folded comforter with a sippy cup of milk.

Plan of Correction: I will work with the child so she can go to sleep without laying down with her sippy cup.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-280
Description: Based on the review of the providers physical plant, cleaners were not kept of of reach of children:
Evidence: Cleaners are stored under the sink in the bathroom cabinet. The cabinet does not have a child safety lock.

Plan of Correction: I will install a lock .
