Technical Assistance:
Effective January 1, 2025, the VDOE will begin determining compliance with ? 22.1-289.057 of the Code of Virginia, which is legislation passed by the General Assembly in 2020. The law requires all licensed child day programs, religious exempt child day centers that serve preschool age children, and certified preschools to test potable drinking water. The law requires that programs submit their plans and test results to the Virginia Department of Health Office of Drinking Water (VDH ODW) and the Superintendent. If the results of the testing indicate elevated lead levels, the program shall remediate, retest, and resubmit results to VDH ODW and the Superintendent. There is an additional alternative bottled water option that comes with additional requirements. Comments:
An unannounced, on-site renewal inspection was initiated and completed on September 18, 2024 , as a part of the provisional licensure period. The on-site inspection began at 8:45am and ended at 9:45am The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 5 children present and 2 caregivers; the point total was 16. The inspector reviewed 5 children's records and 2 caregiver records and 1 household member record on-site. This inspection included document review, tour of the home and observations Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-100-A
Description: The provider shall obtain documentation of a physical examination by or under the direction of a physician prior to a child's attendance or within 30 days after the first day of attendance.

Child #1 did not have documentation of a physical examination and has been in care for 106 days.

Plan of Correction: We will have the parent bring us the physical and make sure to obtain physicals within 30 days of first day of care.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-590-B
Description: An infant who falls asleep in a play space other than his own crib, shall be moved promptly to his designated sleeping space if the safety or comfort of the infant is in question

Child #2 was observed sleeping in an infant bouncy seat that per the manufactures instructions is not recommended for sleeping.

Plan of Correction: Child was moved during the inspection. We will not place an infant in the seat to sleep.
