Comments:
An inspection was conducted after self reported incident was sent to the Fairfax Licensing Office by Common Ground Child Care. The inspection was conducted between 9:30am and 11:15am. The inspector discussed the incident with the director and confirmed that the incident was a violation of the regulations. The evidence supported the violation that is listed on the violation notice. Based on observation and interview, a child under the age of 10 years was not within sight and sound supervision of staff.
Evidence: During an interview with a staff member, it was determined that Child #1 was located in a classroom after the lead and assistant teacher left the room. The room was within sound of the administration area, but no teacher was within sight of the child.
Plan of Correction:
The staff members have both been retrained. Also, a new policy of checking name to face using the attendance program every 15 minutes while not in the classroom and when the children line up and when they arrive.
