This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on 02/11/2021 and concluded on 02/12/2021. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 50 children present and 10 staff. The inspector emailed the director/provider a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 4 children?s records and 3 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.
Based on record review and interview, it was determined that the center did not ensure that employee that had lived out of the state of VA within the last 5 years have in their files the result of an out-of-state Central Registry search request within 30 days of employment.
Evidence: Staff #1 hired date was 10/05/2020 lived out of the state of VA within the past 5 years did have results of out-of-state Central Registry search request. The director confirmed there was not a out of state central registry submitted.
Plan of Correction:
Management has been retrained as of 2/18/21 on how to manage the CPS portion of out of state background checks for states that have multiple layer background checks. Moving forward, all hiring managers will verify actual state requirements, prior to hire date.
