Comments:
A renewal inspection was initiated on 3/4/2024 and concluded on 3/4/2024. There were 14 children present with 3 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 5 child records and 3 staff records were reviewed. The inspection started at 09:45 am and concluded at 11:15 am.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B
Description: Based on the facility review the facility failed to ensure that hazardous items were kept in a locked place preventing access from children as required.

EVIDENCE:
In the staff lounge there was a working electric drill sitting on the table in the middle of the room.
In the staff lounge there was a bottle of Tylenol and a box of EmergenC supplement in a storage container sitting on the snack table, beside the snacks. The storage container was accessible with no lid.

Plan of Correction: Management will be contacted for request to keep the door to the staff lounge closed. If this is not the best choice for heating purposes, a gate will be installed to ensure no access by children. The drill, the Tylenol and supplement were removed from the area during the inspection.
