Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia. A renewal inspection was initiated on March 10, 2021 and concluded on March 12, 2021. The provider was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were six children and seven staff. The inspector emailed the provider a list of items required to complete the inspection. The inspector reviewed two children's records and two staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility. The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.
Based on record review, in one of two staff records reviewed, the licensee did not obtain a copy of a sex offender registry check from any state in which the individual has resided in the preceding five years.
Evidence: The director confirmed that there was no documentation of a sex offender registry check in the documentation submitted for Staff #1 who indicated as to residing outside the state of Virginia within the last five years.
Plan of Correction:
The director conducted the sex offender registry check today while on the phone with the licensing insepctor and results were provided.
