Discussed in detail the requirements related (8VAC20-780-500.B.5) to disposable diapers that shall be disposed in a leakproof or plastic-lined storage system that is either foot-operated or used in such a way that neither the staff member's hand nor the soiled diaper touches an exterior surface of the storage system during disposal.
Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was started in the center on April 30, 2024, from 12:40 PM until 2:55 PM and concluded on April 30, 2024. At the time of entrance, 63 children were in care with 14 staff members. Additional staff were on site for administrative purposes. The sample size consisted of 6 children?s records and 6 staff records. Children were observed during nap time, freely playing and preparing for snack.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program . Please contact the Licensing Inspector, Christine Mahan (757) 404-0568 with any questions.
Repeat Based on observation and staff interviews, the licensee did not ensure the center shall maintain, in a way that is accessible to all staff who work with children, a current written list of all children's allergies, sensitivities, and dietary restrictions. This list shall be dated and kept confidential in each room or area where children are present.
Evidence: There was not an a current written list of children's allergies, sensitivities, and dietary restrictions in the infant room. Child #4 was observed in the infant room and has a diagnosed food allergy (milk).

Unsafe conditions shall include, but not be limited to, splintered, cracked or otherwise deteriorating wood; chipped or peeling paint; visible cracks, bending or warping, rusting or breakage of any equipment; head entrapment hazards; and protruding nails, bolts or other components that could entangle clothing or snag skin.
Evidence: 1.The wooden fence around the toddler playground has multiple areas on the fence all around the playground of chipped, peeling paint and splintered wood. 2. The wooden fence around the preschool playground has a large area of chipped, peeling paint and splintered wood near the black metal fence.
