Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on 9/11/23 from 11:00am to 12:50pm with a Board Officer and the Director. There were five children in care, ranging in age from three- to four-years-old, supervised by one staff and one volunteer. The children were observed shoveling mulch for a community service project for the church, then coming inside and washing hands. Three child records, one staff record, one volunteer record, and two Board Officer records were reviewed. There were no medications on-site, but the Director has current certification in Medication Administration Training (MAT). Required postings were observed. The attendance and emergency drill log were reviewed. The most recent Fire Inspection on file was dated 8/3/22 and the most recent Health Inspection on file was dated 3/23/22. Food is provided from home. Room #110, a new space, was measured for a future two-year-old classroom and can hold up to 11 children. The room contains equipment needed for diaper changing, hand washing, toys, and has a bathroom with additional sink. We have contacted the Health Department and requested they come out as soon as possible. Once the inspection is completed, we will submit the report to the Licensing Inspector.

Description:
Based on review of documentation and interview, the center did not ensure that current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) as appropriate to the age of the children in care from an organization such as the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, American Safety and Health Institute, or National Safety Council was maintained, and the training included an in-person competency demonstration. Evidence: Staff #1 and Staff #2 both ha CPR certifications from an online-only course that does not include an in-person competency demonstration.
Plan of Correction:
In-person CPR has been scheduled for 9/23/23.
