Technical Assistance:
Discussed with the provider: 1) Giving the children water or something to drink after they finish playing outside. Standard 910 states water shall be available for drinking and shall be offered on a regular basis to all children in care. 2) Allowing children opportunities to feed themselves. 3) Using single use towels to clean/sanitize tables rather than cloth towels. 4) Standard 690: the diapering surface shall be nonabsorbent and washable
Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted from 11:00 am - 12:30pm with the provider and her two assistants. There were five children in care, ranging from 14 months to three years of age, for a total of 14 points. Children were observed playing outside, transitioning inside and washing hands, eating lunch and napping. Lunch served today: beef stew, whole wheat rolls and milk. Two child records, three caregiver records, the emergency drill log, daily attendance, menu, posted information and annual training were reviewed. The provider is not certified in Medication Administration Training (MAT) and cannot administer medication to children in care. Based on observation, the provider failed to ensure that potentially poisonous substances, such as, but not limited to, cleaning agents, disinfectants and chemicals are stored away from food. Evidence: there were cannisters of disinfectant wipes and disinfectant spray on a shelf above food. There was a bottle of dye on a shelf next to and above food.

Description:
Based on observation, the provider failed to ensure that trampolines are not used during the hours children are in care. Evidence: three children were observed playing on the mini trampoline in the outside area.

Trampoline will be removed today.
