Technical Assistance:
The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) assumed oversight of child care licensing and monitoring on July 1, 2021. All associated regulations and codes have transferred over from the Virginia Department of Social Services. Guidance, resources and training links can be found on the new website childcareva.com.
The violations listed below reflect the new VDOE codes and standards.
Comments:
A renewal inspection was initiated today. This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program. The director was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were a total of 36 children present with 6 staff. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and facilities and programs A total of 4 child records and all staff records were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations and were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Based on staff record review, one required background check was not completed. Evidence: Staff # 1 does not have the results of a Central Registry search.
Plan of Correction:
We sent a second search request on 09/16/2021. Once results are received, we will forward the search results to the Licensing Inspector for review within 10 days.
