Comments:
An unannounced code compliance inspection was initiated on 11/17/2022 and concluded on 11/17/2022 from 11:30 AM to 12:35 PM. There were 32 children present, ranging in ages from two to five, with seven staff. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, procedures and medication. A total of three children?s records and three staff?s records were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
Based on interview, the center failed to implement a procedure to ensure that all areas of the premises accessible to children are free of obvious injury hazards.
Evidence:
1. The director stated the centers procedure is to ensure hazardous substances are kept locked. This is to include disinfectant wipes. 2. In the P1 classroom Clorox wipes were on the counter beside the sink. 3. In the P2 classroom disinfectant wipes were in a clear unlocked drawer in the bathroom used by children.
Plan of Correction:
The wipes will be moved to a locked location. All staff will be retrained on the center procedure regarding hazardous substances.
