Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program. A monitoring inspection was initiated on August 18, 2021 and concluded on August 23,2021. The director was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 20 children present, ranging in ages from 10 to 14, with 4 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 2 child records and 2 staff records were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.
Based on record review and Program Coordinator interviews, the licensee did not ensure to obtain a Search of the Central Registry for all employees of a licensed, facility who is involved in the day-to-day operations or who is alone with, in control of, or supervising one or more children before 30 days of employment at the facility ends.
Evidence: The record for staff #2, date of hire June 6, 2021 did not include the findings from a Virginia Search of the Central Registry. The Program Coordinator confirmed the check were not available for review.
Plan of Correction:
HR has resubmitted a CPS check request and is waiting results. The staff will not work until it is received.
