An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today at 11:20am. There were 25 children directly supervised by 4 staff. The physical plant, 5 staff emergency training records, 6 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed transitioning to outdoor play and being dismissed to their parents. There was an assortment of age appropriate materials for the children in care. The center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. If you have any questions regarding this inspection, please contact the Licensing Inspector, Kara Wright at kara.vaughan@doe.virginia.gov or 703-537-6241.
Based on record review, the child day center administered medication in a way that was not in accordance with the prescriber's dosage instructions. Evidence: The medication log for Child 7 documents that the child received 2 puffs from an inhaler on 11/29/2022. Both the medication authorization and the prescription label for the medication lists the dosage as "1 puff".
