Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 9:30am through 10:30pm. There were 25 children in care ages two through six years old with six teachers, and the owner. Children and staff records were reviewed. A walking of the building inside and outside was completed. Required postings, annual inspections, emergency evacuation drills, first aid kit and medication were reviewed. Children were observed in teacher and self-directed activities including outside play and circle time. A single violations regarding medication was identified during this inspection. The violation was discussed with the owner at the conclusion of the inspection.
Based on medication review and interview the center failed to obtain a written authorization from a parent or guardian for administering prescription medication. Evidence: 1 - There is a prescription Auvi-Q injector in the center medication lock box. However, there is not a written parent authorization for the medication. 2 - Staff 1 confirmed that there is not a written parent authorization for the medication.
Plan of Correction:
The parent was informed of the need for written authorization during the inspection.
