Technical Assistance:
Today, again as was the case the previous inspection, we discussed annual training hours: standard 22VAC40-185-240.C.3 states beginning June 1, 2008 - 16 hours of annual training is required. You staff have consistently exceeded this requirement.
Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from 9:50 am - 12 noon. There were 20 children in care ages three to five years old with three teachers. Children and staff records were reviewed. Required postings, annual inspections, emergency evacuation drills, first aid kit and medication were reviewed. A walking of the center inside and outside was completed. Children were observed engaged in teacher and self-directed activities including restroom routines, transitions hand washing, snack and play activities. A single violation regarding hand washing was identified and appears on the violation notice. The violation were discussed with the owner at the conclusion of the inspection.
Based on observation and interview the center failed to ensure that children's hands are washed with soap and running water or disposable wipes after eating snacks. Evidence: 1 - Child 1 finished eating his snack and immediately went to the carpet to being the next activity. Child 1 did not wash his hands before going to the carpet. 2 - Staff 1 confirmed that child 1 did not wash his hands after eating snack and before going to the carpet.
