Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance was provided in the following areas;
Discussed medication forms (Standard 8VAC20-780-510-3), lunch box labels (Standard 8VAC20-780-560-1) and annual updates on registration forms (8VAC20-780-60-11).

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on April 22, 2024 from 10:10am to 11:30am. At the time of the inspection there were 61 children in care and 10 staff members. Children were observed participating in various activities including handwashing, center play and circle time. Records were reviewed for five children and five staff members. Evacuation drills, emergency supplies and other required records and postings were reviewed. The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice and discussed with the director during the exit interview.

Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that cleaning and sanitizing materials shall not be located above food, food equipment, utensils or single-service articles and shall be stored in areas physically
separate from food.
Evidence:
1. The four year old classroom had a cabinet that contained a bottle of rubbing alcohol and a bottle of hand sanitizer stored next to various food items.
2. The two year old classroom had a cabinet that contained a canister of sanitizing wipes, shaving cream and had sanitizer stored next to a box of cookies.
3. Staff #1 confirmed that the hazardous materials were stored next to food items.

Plan of Correction: Both cabinets have been reorganized and chemicals have been removed.
