Comments:
An onsite code compliance inspection was conducted October 26, 2023. The inspection was initiated at approximately 9:45 AM and concluded at approximately 11:10 AM. There were eight children in care in the before school program, ranging from seven to 13 years of age, with two staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, and medication. A total of five children's records and two staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 22.1-289.035-A
Description: Based on review of two staff records and interview, the center did not ensure one employee completed background check at least every five years for staff or volunteer.
Evidence:
1. The record for Staff #2 contained a central registry finding dated 08/23/2017.
2. Staff #1 confirmed this information during the inspection.

Plan of Correction: The updated background checks were requested while the licensing inspector was on site.
