22.1 Religious Exempt; Background Checks Code; Carbon Monoxide 32.1 Report by person other than physician 63.2 Child abuse and neglect 8VAC20-770 Background Checks
Comments:
An unannounced code compliance inspection was conducted from 9:45-10:40am. There were 27 children present, ranging in ages from 2 to 4, with 7 staff supervising and 1 administrator. Children were observed during center time and chapel time engaged in group singing. The inspector reviewed compliance in background checks and requirements for child day centers operated by religious institution exempt from licensure. A total of 5 staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable code sections and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.
Based on observation and provider interview the provider did not ensure that each building, built before 2015, that houses a child day program that has obtained a religious exemption and serves preschool-age children, shall be equipped with at least one carbon monoxide detector. Evidence: The provider confirmed there was no carbon monoxide detector.
Plan of Correction:
Install carbon monoxide detector in main hallway.
