Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on 9/23/2020 and concluded on 9/23/2020. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 47 children present and 9 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed three children?s records and three staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.
Based on a review of three staff records, the center did not ensure that one staff's record contained a complete sworn statement prior to employment. Evidence: The record for Staff #1 indicated a hire date of 8/20/18 and a sworn statement dated 8/21/18.
Plan of Correction:
Administration will ensure that Sworn Statements are completed prior to a staff's start date.

Description:
Based on a review of three staff records, the licensee failed to ensure that one staff had a central registry finding within 30 days of employment. Evidence: The record for Staff #1 indicated a hire date of 8/20/2018 and a central registry finding dated 10/1/18.

Administration will ensure that background checks are obtained within the required timeframes.
