Technical Assistance:
Reviewed requirements regarding background checks for agents and employees. Reviewed new background requirements, effective 7/1/2020, for all individuals who reside outside of the state of Virginia or who have resided outside of the state of Virginia in the past 5 years.
Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on 10/27/2020 and concluded on 10/28/2020. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 11 children present and 4 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 2 children?s records and 2 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.
Based on record review, the center did not obtain a central registry check every five years for one staff.
Evidence: The most recent documentation of central registry check results in the record for Staff #1 was dated 06/03/2015.
Plan of Correction:
The center will provide documentation that a new central registry request was sent within 10 business days.
