Comments:
A renewal inspection was initiated on 10/17/2023 at approximately 8:10am and concluded on 10/17/2023 at approximately 9:00am. There were a total of 13 children with 2 staff members present. Children were observed during engaged in group activities. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 7 child records and 3 staff records were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-60-A-8
Description: Based on review of medications, there was not a written care plan for each child with a diagnosed food allergy.

Evidence: Child #7 had epinephrine at site without a written care plan.

Plan of Correction: Center will obtain a written care plan for Child #7.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-245-J-1
Description: Based on review of medication and staff certifications, the center was not able to safely perform medication administration practices when the center had agreed to administer prescribed medication because there was no staff member who had satisfactorily completed a training program for this purpose.

Evidence: No staff members present were certified in MAT while child #6 was present and has an emergency Epinephrine injector kept at the center.

Plan of Correction: Center will ensure a MAT certified staff is at the center at all times.
