Comments:
A Subsidy Health and Safety monitoring inspection was conducted on September 7, 2023 to review supplemental health and safety requirements. This inspection began at 7:55am and ended at 9:00am. There were 3 staff with 31 children in 2 classrooms at the time of the visit. Children were observed reading books, playing with various manipulatives and departure for the morning care. Children's files, emergency preparedness procedures, fire drill logs were reviewed. The physical plant and playground were inspected. There were 3 medications on site at this time. A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-790-600-D-1
Description: Based on record review and interview, the vendor failed to ensure that all staff who work directly with children shall have within 90 days of the date of employment current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) appropriate to the ages of children in care.
Evidence:
1. There was no record for Staff #3 (Substitute) for the inspector to review.
2. Staff #3 acknowledged he did not have the current certificate.

Plan of Correction: I will tell the Rover Desk to ensure the substitute (rover employee) has all his paperwork when coming to the center.
