Technical Assistance:
1. Reviewed requirements for tire swings not being steel belted tires. 2. Discussed medication administration requirements. Recommend authorization forms give the school staff permission to give medication vs. a specific staff person. 3. Recommend follow-up with County regarding fire inspection. 4. Reviewed handwashing requirements. 5. Discussed the school's responsibilities in accommodating food allergies vs. food preferences.
Comments:
Conducted an unannounced monitoring inspection at 11:25am. Observed 18 children + 4 direct-care staff + 1 parent-volunteer. Ratios and supervision were in compliance. Children were observed participating in an animated and interactive song that included props, story-time, eating snack, and departing for the day. Staff were actively engaged with the children, activities and parents as they arrived to pick-up the children. The program areas were found to be sufficiently supplied with toys and equipment for the children. This is an outdoor based education program that includes indoor classroom space.
