Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 12/05/19 between the hours of 9:30 am-12:15 pm. At the time of entrance, 31 children were in care with 7 staff members present as well as 3 co-op parents on site. Children were observed during snack time, engaging in free choice activity time, building blocks, and creating art projects. A selection of staff and children records, the physical space, emergency supplies, evacuation drills, attendance records, and medications were reviewed. Based on observation, areas of the center, inside, were not maintained in a safe condition.
Evidence: In classroom A, peeling paint was accessible by children on the wall where building blocks were located. In classroom B, peeling paint was accessible to children on the wall near the entrance to the classroom.
Plan of Correction:
We will repaint areas with peeling paint and install a piece of plastic in the area where the building blocks are to prevent the friction of the blocks from causing the paint to peel in the future.
