Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 3/13/20 from 9:30am - 11:30am. During the inspection there were 39 children ages three years old through five years old in care with nine staff. Children were observed participating in various activities in the classroom and during outside play. Records were reviewed for 11 staff during the inspection. Medication, emergency procedures and emergency supplies were reviewed during the inspection. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the violation notice and were discussed during the exit interview.
Based on obsrevation and interview, it was determined the provider did not ensure that that all areas of the premises accessible to children are free of obvious injury hazards, including providing and maintaining sand or other cushioning material under playground equipment.
Evidence: 1. There was a small piece of playground equipment located on the outside play area that was installed directly on the grass. 2. staff #2 confirmed that the play equipment did not have a cushioning material under it.
Plan of Correction:
The provider responded: We will have a cushioning material material installed under the playground equipment or have the playground equipment removed from the play area. Until this is completed, all children in the program will not be allowed to use this piece of playground equipment.
