An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 9/17/19 from 10:15 am until 1:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church-Charlottesville to review the religious exempt requirements. At the time of the inspection 96 children were present with 17 staff present. The sample size consisted of 10 children's records and 10 staff's records. Children and staff were observed during indoor and outdoor free play, snack, clean-up, music, hand washing, transitions, departure and behavioral management. Based on observation and interview, the center failed to comply with the exemption status regarding the times the center is open.
Evidence:
1. The paperwork provided to the licensing office from the center and approved by the licensing office states the hours of operation are 9:00 am until 12:00 pm. Children were observed going to a lunch program offered by the center after 12:00 pm. 2. The director stated they offer a lunch bunch until 1:30 pm which is separate from the preschool and then parents can sign their children up for extra classes offered each semester after lunch bunch. Both programs are sponsored and ran by the church.
Plan of Correction:
A modification of the exemption will be completed to include the extended hours.
