Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today October 23, 2019 to determine the facility's compliance with licensing standards. Most but not all standards were reviewed during today's inspection. The inspection was initiated at 10:00 am and concluded at 1:00 pm. Upon the inspector's arrival children were observed in a variety of activities. The forest classroom had music with children singing and participating in multiple finger-plays. The pre-k children in the rain forest class had center time. Children worked a floor puzzle, played a number/spider matching game, constructed with legos and gears and completed a worksheet on the parts of an apple. In the infant room, some staff were sitting on the floor with a group of infants providing individual care and gross movement activities. Other staff were rocking and feeding children. Additional observations included children listening to a story tape and singing along to the wheels on the bus, Halloween art activities of cutting and gluing ghost, counting pumpkin seeds and computer. Classrooms had time outside on the playground as well. Today, the center will be closing at 3:30 pm and reopening at 5:00 for families to return to participate in the center's annual Fall/Halloween Festival. A parade, games, activities, dinner and a movie will be offered. The center was decorated with children's art and seasonal decorations for tonight festivities. Today's lunch consisted of ham and cheese sandwich, lettuce, tomato, oranges, broccoli with ranch dressing and milk. All areas of the facility were inspected to include both buildings and playgrounds. The facility has age appropriate materials and supplies. The first aid kit and non-medical emergency supplies were inspected for both buildings and all floors. Staff interactions with children were positive. The following information was posted: license, menu, daily schedule, emergency numbers, evacuation procedures and various parent information. The inspector interacted with staff and children in care.

Ten children's records and ten staff records were reviewed.
Staff have current CPR, First aid and daily health observation training. Multiple staff have MAT certification.
The most recent evacuation drill was documented on 09/30/2019. One of the two required shelter-in-place drill for 2019 was conducted on 09/18/2019. A second shelter-in-place drill will need to be completed before the end of the year.
