Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on 6/17/20 and concluded on 6/17/20. The director and owner was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 17 children present with 4 staff. The inspector emailed the director and owner a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 3 children?s records and 3 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined noncompliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-191-60-C-2
Description: Based on record review and interview, the center failed to obtain a central registry (CPS) finding within 30 days of employment.

Evidence:

1. The record for staff 3 was reviewed. The start date was documented as 11/21/19. The central registry finding was documented as 1/11/20.
2. The director and owner verified the start date and central registry finding date. The director stated staff 3 had difficulty getting the document notarized due to issues with his/her license which put the timing for completion of the document behind.

Plan of Correction: Going forward, no one will be able to start work until all paperwork is returned completed from the employee. After the 30th day of employment, if the CPS has not been received, we will call and document findings of problems.
