Technical Assistance:
Adequate documentation of the twice per year shelter-in-place drills and the once per year lockdown drill was discussed with the provider.
The provider was reminded that the weekly menu must be posted where parents can review what is/has been served to the children.
Comments:
A monitoring inspection was conducted on 11/08/2022. There were 4 children present with 2 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 3 child records and 2 staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and a violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Violations were reviewed with the provider during the exit interview.
Based upon observation, the provider has not ensured that areas are maintained in a safe condition. Evidence: During the inspection, child 2, two years old, gave the inspector a one inch metal screw that he had found in the child care room. The screw is a potential choking or puncture hazard.
Plan of Correction:
The provider provided the following plan of correction during the exit interview: The screw was from a recently built book shelf. The screw was immediately placed in an area inaccessible to the children. In the future, care will be taken to ensure that the child care rooms are free from any potential hazards prior to the arrival of the children.
