Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program. A renewal inspection was initiated on 10/15/2021 and concluded on 10/19/2021. The licensee was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 6 children present and 2 caregivers. The inspector emailed the licensee a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 4 children?s records and 3 caregiver records, along with any requested program records submitted by the facility to determine if required documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.
Based on observation the licensee did not ensure all potentially poisonous materials were in accessible to children. Evidence: There was an air freshener plugged into an electrical outlet near the changing table in the main daycare room. The plug-in contained the liquid freshener and was close to the floor board.
Plan of Correction:
The licensee will no longer use plug-in air fresheners that are in reach of children in care.
Standard #:
22VAC40-111-320-B
Description:
Based on observation the licensee did not ensure child-resistant protective covers larger than 1-1/4 inches in diameter were installed on all unused electrical outlets. Evidence: There was an electrical outlet in the kitchen that did not have a protective cover. There were 6 children in care under the age of 5 years-old at the time of inspection.
Plan of Correction:
A protective cover will be placed over the electrical outlet in the kitchen.
Standard #:
22VAC40-111-690-D
Description:
Based on observation the licensee did not ensure diapering surfaces were not used for food preparation areas, or surfaces used for children's activities.
Evidence: There was an open box of crackers sitting on top of the diaper changing table.
Plan of Correction:
The licensee removed the box of crackers off of the changing table surface during the inspection.
