Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on March 20, 2024 between the hours of 1:45pm-2:45pm. There were a total of 46 children with four staff members present. Children were observed engaged in group activities and outdoor play time. A selection of staff and children records and other documents were reviewed. The physical space, emergency supplies, evacuation drills, attendance records, and the Emergency Preparedness Plan were reviewed. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the violation notice. Based on record review and interview, the Virginia Department of Education sponsored orientation course was not completed within 90 calendar days of employment. Evidence: 1. Staff #1's record (Date of hire-09/06/2023) did not contain documentation of a completed Virginia Department of Education sponsored orientation course. 2. Staff #2's record (Date of hire-08/27/2023) did not contain documentation of a completed Virginia Department of Education sponsored orientation course. 3. Staff #3's record (Date of hire-08/23/2023) did not contain documentation of a completed Virginia Department of Education sponsored orientation course. 4. Staff #4 confirmed that the orientation course was not completed by Staff #1, Staff #2, and Staff #3.

The staff members will complete the orientation course over the next two weeks.

Description:
Based on documentation review and interview, the center did not implement a monthly practice evacuation drill. Evidence: 1. An emergency evacuation drill was not conducted for the months of December and January. 2. Staff #4 confirmed that an emergency evacuation drill was not conducted for the months of December and January.
Plan of Correction:
Two additional emergency evacuation drills will be conducted to make up for the two months missed. The center will ensure that there will be monthly emergency evacuation drills.
