Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 3/17/22 from 9:25am to 11:30am with the Director and program staff. There were 11 children in care, ranging in age from four-years to five-years-old, supervised by two staff. The children were observed reviewing letters and sounds using flash cards with the teacher. Two children?s records and two staff records were reviewed. Both teachers, as well as other program staff, have current certification in CPR and First Aid, Daily Health Observation Training, and Medication Administration Training (MAT). There were no medications on site. The attendance and emergency drill log were reviewed and were in compliance. The most recent Fire Inspection on file was dated 9/23/21 and the most recent Health Inspection on file was dated 9/27/21. Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B
Description: Based on observation, the program did not ensure that hazardous substances, such as cleaning materials, were kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: On 3/17/22 antiseptic cleaning wipes were observed in an unlocked cabinet over the sink.

Plan of Correction: While the cleaning wipes were in a high cabinet, we will get a lock for the cabinet as well.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-290-A-3
Description: Based on observation, the program did not ensure that all electrical outlets had protective covers. Evidence: During the inspection on 3/17/22 there were two wall outlets that did not have protective covers as well as a power cord that was accessible to children that had four exposed outlets without covers.

Plan of Correction: We will make sure all of the outlets get covered right away.
