Comments:
A renewal inspection was conducted on September 1, 2023 with the provider and two assistants. There were 6 children present, ranging in ages from 10 months to 3 years, with 3 caregivers supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 2 child records and 3 household member/caregiver records were reviewed. The children were eating lunch, playing outdoors, and preparing for rest.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Based on review of caregiver and household records, the provider failed to obtain a repeat background check in accordance with the Code of Virginia every five years. Evidence: Caregiver 1 had a fingerprint check dated 5/18/2018, but did not have a repeat fingerprint check until 8/31/2023. Household member 2 had a fingerprint check dated 05/30/2018, but did not have a repeat fingerprint check on file.
Plan of Correction:
Caregiver 1 has a repeat fingerprint check. Household member 1 has an appointment scheduled for 9/5/2023.
