Comments:
A renewal inspection was conducted on 1/4/23 from 10:40am until 11:25am. At the time of entrance, there were 4 children in care, for a total of 9 points, with the provider. A sample of 4 children's records and 2 provider/assistant records were reviewed. Children were observed engaging in free play and eating snack. Restroom procedures were also observed. First aid and emergency supplies, the emergency preparedness plan, documentation of emergency practice drills and family day home postings were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law. One violation is listed on the violation notice and was discussed with the provider during the exit interview.
Based on record review and interview, the provider did not ensure that the results of a fingerprint based background check are obtained at least every five years for all caregivers.
Evidence: 1. The most recent fingerprint based background check for caregiver 1 (provider) is dated 5/22/18. Caregiver 1 was due for an updated fingerprint based background check in May 2023. 2. The most recent fingerprint based background check for caregiver 2 is dated 5/16/18. Caregiver 2 was due for an updated fingerprint based background check in May 2023. 3. Caregiver 1 confirmed that her and caregiver 2's fingerprint based background checks are expired.
Plan of Correction:
The provider responded with the following: This was an oversight. Provider and caregiver 2 will complete updated fingerprint background checks as soon as possible. Results will be forwarded to the licensing inspector once received.
