Comments:
The inspection was initiated on May 31, 2023 and concluded June 1, 2023. The inspector was in the family day home from 1:20 PM until 2:15 PM. There were 4 children present, ranging in ages from 21 months to age 4, with 1 provider. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, personnel, physical health of caregivers, caregiver training, physical equipment/ environment, care of children, preventing spread of disease, emergencies and nutrition. A total of 4 child records, I provider and 2 household member records reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program
Based on observation and provider interviews, the provider did not ensue that the use of media such as, but not limited to, television, videos, video games, and computers shall be limited to not more than a total of two hours per day; and limited to programs, tapes, websites, and software that are produced for children or are suitable for children.
Evidence: There were 4 children observed during their rest period and 3 were observed awake and watching television while laying on their cots. The provider confirmed the television program was a daytime soap opera and it had been on for approximately 45 minutes. The age range of children in care was 21 months to age 4.
