A virtual inspection was done on 4/19/2024 regarding a self-reported incident. Documentation from the facility regarding the incident was reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.
Based on interview and document review, a staff person at the center committed a forbidden action, striking a child.
EVIDENCE: The report received states staff 2 was smacked in the head by a child and "out of instinct/reaction the staff member hit the child in return." This was confirmed in a conversation with staff 3.
Plan of Correction:
The staff person was immediately suspended and subsequently had employment at the center terminated. The director will give additional training to all staff regarding taking some time away from children (after getting another staff to take their place) if they feel themselves getting agitated or impatient with the children. Staff 3 reported the incident to CPS and to Licensing.
