A subsidy health and safety inspection was conducted on 09/01/2020. The Association Child Care Specialist was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were no children present as the school has been closed since 03/12/2020. A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy regulations that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with subsidy regulations and a violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the facility. Violations: Standard #: 22VAC40-665-580-H Description: Based on record review and interview, the center failed to ensure that staff who work directly with children shall, in addition to preservice and orientation training, shall annually attend training to include the department's health and safety update course. Evidence: 1. There is no documentation to indicate that staff 1, hire date 08/28/2018. completed the subsidy health and safety update course that was required to be completed by March 1, 2020. 2. Administrative staff verified that staff 1 had not completed the Annual Virginia Health and Safety Updated Training for Child Care Staff. Plan of Correction: Staff 1 will complete this training class.
