Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews, and a virtual tour of the program.
A subsidy health and safety (SHSI) inspection was initiated on 9/22/21 and concluded on 10/5/21. There were 23 children present with 3 staff supervising. A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.
Based on record review and interview it was determined the center did not ensure that within the first 90 days of employment or subsidy vendor approval all staff who work directly with children shall complete Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff. Evidence: 1. The record for staff #1(hired 6/7/19) did not contain documentation of the required Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff. 2. Staff #1 confirmed that they had not completed the Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff.
Plan of Correction:
Staff #1 will complete the required Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff.
