Technical Assistance:
Had a discussion with center management regarding a new car seat law that went into effect 7/1/2019. The law requires that children up to age eight be provided with and properly secured in a child restrain device that meets standards adopted by the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Comments:
An unannounced focused investigation was conducted today between the hours of 9:50am and 12:10pm. There were 5 classrooms observed with a total of 31 children with 6 staff within the supervision guidelines. A total of 10 children's records and 4 medications and authorizations were reviewed today. Positive interactions between staff and children were observed. The findings from today's visit can be found on the Violation Notice. Description:
Based on documentation and interview, areas of the center outside were not maintained in a safe condition.
Evidence: On 6/12/2019 the licensing office received a self-reported incident documenting that on 6/11/2019 a child had tripped over tree roots and broke their wrist. Center management confirmed the incident during today's inspection.
Plan of Correction:
Center management had the tree removed on 6/13/2019. Other roots that are appearing around separate trees have been leveled with new soil.
