22VAC40-665 STAFF QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
Comments:
A Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted on 8/13/2019 to review supplemental health and safety requirements. The inspector arrived at 10:00 AM and departed at 1:00 PM. Thirty-six children were in care. A sample size of five staff records and five children's records were reviewed. No children's allergies were reported.
A licensing inspection was also conducted this date; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Violations were found during the supplemental subsidy health and safety inspection requirements and are identified on the violation notice.
Based upon review of five staff records, the facility has not ensured that staff are evaluated by a health professional and are issued a statement that the individual is free of communicable tuberculosis prior to coming into contact with the children.
Evidence:
Staff 4 and staff 5 were on duty with the children during the inspection. The facility did not have documentation of a tuberculosis screening for either staff. Staff stated that they have not obtained tuberculosis screenings.
Plan of Correction:
The facility responded with the following:
Newly hired employees will obtain results of a tuberculosis screening within 30 days prior to hire and before coming into contact with the children.
