Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A code compliance inspection was initiated on 02/25/2021 and concluded on 02/25/2021. The director was contacted by video call to initiate the inspection. There were 22 children present and 9 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 4 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable code sections and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility. The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.
Based on record review and an interview, the center did not ensure to have at least one person on staff that has been trained to conduct daily simple health screenings of children. Evidence: During the inspection of four staff records and interview with the center representative, it was discovered there were no staff that received training in daily health screenings. Religious exempt requirements stipulate that a staff should be able to conduct a daily simple health screening and exclusion of sick children by a person trained to perform such screenings.
Plan of Correction:
We will have someone trained within a week and the rest of the staff will be trained within the next months during teachers meetings.

Description:
Based on staff record review, the center did not ensure one of four staff records had documentation of fingerprint based national criminal history search results prior to employment. Evidence: 1. The record of staff #3 (start date: 3/9/20) had documentation of fingerprint based national criminal history search results dated 4/20/20.
Plan of Correction:
I have created a new hire task list to ensure documents are completed in sequential order to meet the required deadlines.
