An unannounced subsidy health and safety inspection was conducted on 02/23/2022 from 4:00 pm - 5:45 pm. A monitoring inspection was concurrently conducted as this program is a licensed child day center. At the time of entrance there were 63 School age children in care with 6 staff. Children were observed engaged in various games in the cafeteria. Outdoor play was observed on the playground located behind the school. Records were reviewed for four children. Four staff records were reviewed at the YMCA Greenbrier North Branch where staff records are maintained for the Chesapeake School Based Programs.
Based on record review and interview, the vendor failed to ensure that all staff who work directly with children shall have within 90 days of the date of employment current certification in CPR.
Evidence: 1. Staff 1, hire date 09/09/2019, lacks current certification in CPR. 2. Staff 2, hire date 09/22/2020, lacks current certification in CPR. 3. The program director confirmed that staff 1 and staff 2 did not have current CPR certification.
Plan of Correction:
A CPR class is scheduled on March 20, 2022 and both staff will attend.
