Comments:
A subsidy health and safety inspection was conducted on 12/05/2022. There were 4 children present, ages 6 months- 3 years, totaling 11 points and 2 caregivers present during the inspection. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, personnel, training, environment and equipment, care of children, preventing the spread of diseases, emergencies, and nutrition. A total of 5 children?s records, 2 caregiver records and 1 household member record was viewed. The children were observed during independent play. The inspector discussed the following with the provider: outlets and animals. The inspector arrived for the inspection at 9:45 am and departed the family day home at 11:30 am. A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date. Both inspections combined cover health and safety regulations. Only subsidy requirements not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Information gathered during the inspections determined non-compliance with subsidy requirements and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the provider.
Based on record review and interview with caregiver, the vendor failed to ensure that all caregivers shall complete the Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff within the first 90 days of employment. Evidence: The record for Caregiver 2 did not document the completion of the Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff. The record for Caregiver 2 documented a hire date of 11/17/2019. Caregiver 1 confirmed this documentation was not available.
Plan of Correction:
Caregiver will obtain training.
