Discussed changes in the Child Day Center licensing standards that went into effect on 10/13/2021.
Discussed VDOE model forms for use by the center as necessary.
Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 9:45am-10:45am. There were 16 children directly supervised by 4 staff. The physical plant, 3 staff records, 4 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed playing outside. There was an assortment of age appropriate materials for the children in care. The center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Based on observation, areas of the center were not maintained in a clean, safe and operable condition. Evidence: A rusted air return vent was observed in the front classroom.

Based on observation, medication was not kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: Medication was observed in an unlocked cabinet in the kitchen.

Based on observation, food brought from home did not meet all labeling requirements. Evidence: Children's lunches were not labeled with both the child's name and the date.
