Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on April 9, 2024 from approximately 11:50 am to 1:15 pm. Ten staff were present supervising sixty-one children, ages infants through preschool. Additional staff were on site for administrative duties. Children were observed during story time and nap time. Six child and five staff records were reviewed. Violation found is noted on the violation notice.
Based on review, facility did not ensure 2 of 5 staff have a completed Office of Background Investigations (OBI) fingerprinting letter prior to beginning employment.
Evidence: The following was found during review of staff records: 1. The record for staff #3 (start date 11/6/2023) had a OBI fingerprinting letter dated 11/20/2023. 2. The record for staff #5 (start date 2/26/2024) had a OBI fingerprinting letter dated 2/28/2024.
Plan of Correction:
We will push employee start dates out further to ensure the (OBI) fingerprinting letters are present before employment starts. We were receiving them back within a week before these last 2 employees were hired and didn't realize the turnaround time was taking longer now. We will be sure to have them on hand before future employees start.
