A Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted on 12/02/2019 to review supplemental health and safety requirements. An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 10:45am-1:15pm. There were 61 children (2 yrs - 5 yrs.) directly supervised by 17 staff. The physical plant, 5 staff records, 5 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in building activities with blocks and legos, learning about construction, tools and safety, coloring, practicing writing their names, playing with homemade play-doh, doing puzzles, making snowman figures with shaving cream and eating lunch. Today's lunch consisted of French toast bites, turkey sausage bites, home fried potatoes, tropical fruit salad and milk. Hand-washing procedures were also observed. There was an adequate supply of materials for the children. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the Violation Notice.
A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. No violations of the supplemental subsidy health and safety requirements were found. Please send questions regarding this new requirement to maria.soto@dss.virginia.gov .
