An unannounced subsidy health and safety inspection was conducted on July 6, 2023 from approximately 10:45 am to 12:30 pm. There were 41 children in attendance and a total of 7 staff present. 4 staff records and 4 children?s records were viewed. All areas of the center were observed including classrooms, bathrooms, and the playgrounds. The children were observed watching a program, playing with puzzles, eating lunch, and taking a nap while the licensing inspector was on-site.
A complete licensing inspection was also conducted on this date; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in the licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection.
Violations were cited as a result of this inspection.
Please complete the plan of correction and ?date to be corrected? for each violation cited on the violation notice and return it to me within 5 business days from today, 07/19/2023. Please specify how the deficient practice will be or has been corrected. Your plan of correction should contain: 1) steps to correct the noncompliance with the standard(s), 2) measures to prevent the noncompliance from occurring again, and 3) person(s) responsible for implementing each step and/or monitoring any preventative measure(s).
Based on records review, the center failed to ensure that staff who work directly with children, shall annually attend the departments 3 hour health and safety update course. Evidence: The record for staff #3, date of employment 04/04/13, contained a 3 hour health and safety course certificate dated 07/16/2021. There was not an updated training for 2022.
