Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance was offered regarding the documentation to show group sizes for each classroom.
Comments:
A Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted on 7/22/19 to review supplemental health and safety requirements. There were 40 children in care of 7 staff members. The children were engaged in various activities and also observed leaving the center for a field trip. A licensing inspection was also conducted this date; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Violations were found during the supplemental subsidy health and safety inspection requirements and are identified on the violation notice. Please contact me if you have any questions at mahrukh.aziz@dss.virginia.gov or 571-835-4718.
Based on record review and staff interview, the center did not obtain tuberculosis (TB) screening for staff that was completed within the last 30 calendar days of the date of employment.
Evidence:
1. Staff # 1's date of hire was 7/22/19. Staff # 2 stated that Staff # 1 has completed the test, and waiting to get the documentation.
2. Staff # 3 was hired on 6/13/19. Staff # 3's TB screening was dated 6/19/19 and was not obtained within 30 days of date of hire.
Plan of Correction:
I will make sure to get the TB screenings for new employees within the required time.
