Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on 6/23/20 and concluded on 6/26/20. The provider was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were no children present as the family day home is currently closed due to the state of emergency. The inspector emailed the provider a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 2 provider/household member records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.
Based on record review and interview, the provider did not ensure that all caregivers and household members obtain an updated central registry search result every five years as required.
Evidence: 1. The record for the provider contains documentation of a central registry search dated 3/27/15. An updated central registry search for the provider was due in March 2020. 2. The record for household member 1 contains documentation of a central registry search dated 4/6/15. An updated central registry search for household member 1 was due in April 2020. 3. The provider confirmed that updated central registry searches have not been completed for herself or household member 1.
Plan of Correction:
The provider responded with the following: New central registry search forms will be completed and mailed today for the provider and household member 1.
